Does anyone know where I can find free layouts for model railroads.?
I am putting together a railroad layout and I am looking for layout ideas, that I can kind of pattern my layout after. My benchwork is about 4' deep and about 16' long, and I have it in the shape of an L. Any ideas I would appreciate. I didn't mention, it is an HO scale layout

- You didn't mention the gauge trains that you have. We have wooden trains (Thomas/Brio) and we like the Dazy layouts: http://www.dazyusa.com/Layouts.htm Hope this helps, and have fun!
- Scale model railroad layouts and model trains. ... free resources for O / O27, HO, N, G, Garden railways: layouts & track ... Micro Layouts for Model Railroads ...http://www.modelrailroads.net/Model_Railroad_Links/Layouts_All_Scales model railroad layouts, model railroad layout photos and model railroad ... for O/O27, G, HO & N: layouts, model RR manuals, scenery guides, free downloads ...http://www.railsusa.com/links/Model_Railroad_Layouts_All_Scales As for a suggestion: Get a round metal mixing bowl, turn upside down and trace an outline. Retrace a circle slightly smaller than the bowl so you can set the bowl in the hole. Turn bowl over, add water, either build up rocks at one end and make a waterfall or gut out an old tabletop fountain and make a bubbling lake. You can also set your foam tunnel over the bowl of water, drill a hole and let the water drip down the outside like seeping water down a mountainside. Go to the Hardware store or Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a can of expanding foam, it is in the insulation and sealant area. also but some small amount of page wire, in the fencing section or screen. form a tunnel or mountain and spray the expanding foam over it in rapid short bursts to create rocks and rills. Expanding foam is not safe from sun light, needs to be painted to protect it from U V rays and to make it look real. You can set trees into your mountain or into the wire then fill in with foam. Trees can be cut from the tips of an old artificial christmas tree...You can set rocks, craft river rocks into the foam while wet. BUT be sure to buy acetone and wear gloves, because this is sticky crazy stuff that won't come off you hands when dry.
- well, free no, you could look at Model Railroader magazine. They have a lot of great ideas for making a layout. Do you have a theme? Location? Are you wanting to make a prototype of a specific area, or railroad? A lot to think about. So, good luck.
